Quilting With Purpose: The Story Behind Ruthlessly Handmade’s Charity Quilts

Every year, the quilting community shows just how powerful creativity and generosity can be. And no one embodies that more than Sarah Morris of Ruthlessly Handmade, who has spent the past two years hosting charity quilt fundraisers that continue to grow in both size and impact.

What began as a heartfelt effort to support Isaiah 117 House, an organization deeply meaningful to Sarah, has become an inspiring movement. Each year, her charity quilts raise more money, reach more people, and remind us all of the good that quilting can do in the world.

Now, Sarah is expanding her mission even further by hosting charity quilting events twice a year, each dedicated to a different organization in need.

How the Charity Quilt Fundraiser Began

Two years ago, Sarah felt compelled to use her love of quilting to support a cause close to her heart. Isaiah 117 House provides comfort and care for children entering foster care, an emotional transition that often happens with very little support. Their mission struck a chord with Sarah, and she knew she wanted to help.

She organized a charity quilt raffle, invited quilters to contribute blocks, and hoped the quilting community might respond.

They did! And far beyond what she expected.

With the fundraiser since then, the number of participants and donations has grown, creating a ripple effect of kindness powered by handmade quilts.

How Quilters Can Participate

One of the reasons Sarah’s charity events have been so successful is that quilters can join in from anywhere. There are two main ways to get involved:

1. Make Quilt Blocks

Sarah organizes block drives where quilters of all skill levels can sign up to sew and contribute a block. These blocks come together into beautiful, meaningful charity quilts that will later be raffled off.

2. Purchase Raffle Tickets

When the finished quilts are ready, Sarah hosts a raffle, with 100% of the proceeds donated to the chosen organization. It’s a powerful way to turn creativity into direct impact.

Growing the Mission: Two Charity Quilts a Year

After witnessing the impact of the first two fundraisers, Sarah felt inspired to expand the effort. Starting this year, she will host two charity quilt fundraisers annually, each supporting a different organization.

This means more opportunities to give back, more community involvement, and even more lives touched by the love and generosity of quilters.

The Heart Behind It All

Listening to Sarah talk about her charity quilts, you can hear and feel how deeply she believes in using quilting to serve others. Her compassion is unmistakable, and her story is a beautiful reminder of the powerful role creativity can play in changing lives.

Quilting isn’t just a craft, it’s a way to comfort, support, uplift, and give.
And through Ruthlessly Handmade, that impact is only growing.

Final Thoughts

Whether you sew a single block or purchase a raffle ticket, your involvement helps fuel something meaningful. Sarah’s charity quilts show us what happens when a community rallies behind a cause, and how quilting can become a force for good in the world.
